Microfinance entrepreneur Shivani Siroya to speak at Summit15
The Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) has announced that InVenture founder and CEO Shivani Siroya will speak at Summit15 in Denver.
Named one of the world’s most innovative companies by FastCompany in 2015, InVenture is a mobile technology and data science company that aims to close the credit gap in emerging markets by using mobile data to overcome traditional barriers to financial access.
Through its Android application, Mkopo Rahisi, InVenture collects up to 10,000 data points per customer to build a real-time credit score for individuals who have little to no formal financial history; determines a loan amount and terms; disburses the loan in less than a minute; and handles all customer service, including repayments. The result is instant, flexible, and affordable credit that meets people where they are, without bank branches or paperwork – a new conception of financial services for the mobile world. InVenture has been operating in Kenya since March 2014.
“When a social entrepreneur can enable thousands of people who are otherwise overlooked by traditional financial institutions access and build credit, you know they are on to something,” said Jim Schorr, CEO of SEA.
Summit15 will be held September 16-18 in Denver. SEA expects to host over 500 participants, who will hear from about 80 speakers. The SEA Summit provides the opportunity to learn, connect and collaborate with thought leaders in the field.
