Founder, Nonprofit Utopia
Valerie F. Leonard is an expert in community and organizational development with a mission to strengthen the capacity of organizations to make a positive impact on the communities they serve through technical assistance, specialized workshops and organizational development.
She is the Founder of Nonprofit Utopia, the ideal community for emerging leaders. The mission of the Nonprofit Utopia community is to develop the next generation of ethical nonprofit leaders. The community provides ongoing professional development and networking opportunities in which experienced nonprofit professionals can share expertise with the next generation of ethical leaders. The overarching goal of the community is to give our members the tools they need to develop strong organizations that will make a lasting impact.
Valerie is also the host of the Nonprofit Utopia podcast, which serves as an extension of the community, and provides a forum in which nonprofit stakeholders can share lessons learned in the industry.
Valerie teaches courses in social enterprise at Roosevelt University’s Heller College of Business. She also teaches operations management and program design and evaluation for the UIC Certificate in Nonprofit Management program.
Valerie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Spelman College and a Master of Management with concentrations in finance and marketing from the Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
